Poll

That server is in Florida and votes don't get counted there.

Here's an opportunity to use one of the features of our list that we've
never used before!

Paul Siebers suggested that we run a poll to see "if any our members would
be interested in getting together for a social one evening" at Epicor's user
conference. Personally, I'd like to get a feel for how many of our group
are planning to attend the user conference.

So we created our first poll for the list. If you go to -
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vantage/polls
you will see the following question and the possible responses listed below.

Q: Several of the Vantage list members would like to get together during
Epicor's user conference (Perspectives 2001 - October 21 - 24, 2001) to have
the opportunity to meet each other and to give a face to the personalities
on the list. How interested would you be in participating in such an event?

R1: I will be at Perspectives 2001 and would be interested in meeting with
other Vantage list members.
R2: I will be at Perspectives 2001 but I am not interested in meeting with
other Vantage list members.
R3: I will not be at Perspectives 2001 but I would like to find some other
way to meet other Vantage list members.
R4: I will not be at Perspectives 2001 and am not terribly interested in
meeting with any other Vantage list members

You will only be able to vote one time and you can only choose one response.
Voting is NOT anonymous but I promise not to publish anyone's identity
EXCEPT those who choose Response 1 (so that coordination can be made for
everyone to get together). The poll will be open until Monday August 10th
to give everyone a chance to get back from vacation and get back to
semi-normal before we shut it down. I will publish the percentages after
the poll is closed.

Please take a few seconds to respond - its really quick and painless!

Once again, the poll can be found at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vantage/polls but you must have your Yahoo ID
to get there.

I took the poll at the yahoo site (going and yes) but it came back to the
same page with no confirmation that my "vote" had been tabulated. Is it
supposed to go to another screen or provide a confirmation? I'm running
popup-stopper and had to override thru a couple screens to get to the poll
and wondered if perhaps the confirmation was on a popup screen that got
suppressed. Since it won't allow double voting I will try it again and use
that as an indication whether the first time worked.
------------------------------------------------------
[Soapbox - thoughts about attending]
I know this is a tough year and this conference aims at the heart of the
depressed manufacturing sector but there are many good reasons to attend.
Someone asked about Vantage Basic classes awhile back. If you have to
travel to a class anyway then Perspectives is not that much more $ and
covers far more. The best education bang for the buck. When times are
tough most companies need to squeeze out the most with what they have. A
little spent on education can leverage into big payback by using the system
better. Just this week I printed off scheduling session notes from the last
two conferences for our Production Control Mgr. so we can postpone sending
him to a $595 2-day class.

It's when business is slow that it is the time to implement improvements and
train users to use the system more effectively. They don't have time when it
is busy. If all else fails search the web for a cheaper hotel in short taxi
distance and charter airfare deals and then present your boss with a regular
cost vs. "look what I can save" cost. Maybe offer to cover all your own
non-conference provided meals (one or two). If you are real frugal you
might be able to get your travel costs under $300+airfare+conference so
maybe under $1,500 total depending on where you are coming from. The more
who can attend then the more valuable it will be for everyone.
[End Soapbox - thank you]

Subject: [Vantage] Poll

Here's an opportunity to use one of the features of our list that we've
never used before!

Paul Siebers suggested that we run a poll to see "if any our members would
be interested in getting together for a social one evening" at Epicor's user
conference. Personally, I'd like to get a feel for how many of our group
are planning to attend the user conference.

So we created our first poll for the list. If you go to -
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vantage/polls
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vantage/polls>
you will see the following question and the possible responses listed below.

Once again, the poll can be found at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vantage/polls
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vantage/polls> but you must have your Yahoo
ID
to get there.
