Pop-up Blank Title 90042

One other thing I would add, sometimes I find comparing it to a blank field
("") doesn't always catch everything, particularly if you loaded some data
fields with a rogue method. Progress syntax uses the question mark for a
null field, so your syntax may look like:

IF IssueReturn.TranReference = "" OR
IssueReturn.TranReference = ?

Note, you don't put the question mark in parenthesis .

Based on a trace, it looks like IssueReturn is the BO and
PerformMaterialMovement is the method.

<tracePacket>
<businessObject>Epicor.Mfg.BO.IssueReturn</businessObject>
<methodName>PerformMaterialMovement</methodName>
<returnType>void</returnType>
<localTime>5/5/2010 16:07:58:3663231 PM</localTime>
<executionTime>249.9936</executionTime>
<parameters>
<parameter name='plNegQtyAction' type='System.Boolean'
><![CDATA[False]]></parameter>
<parameter name='ds' type='Epicor.Mfg.BO.IssueReturnDataSet'
><IssueReturnDataSet
xmlns="http://www.epicor.com/Mfg/100/BO.IssueReturn/IssueReturn">
<IssueReturn>
<Company>OPTO</Company>
<TranDate>2010-05-05T00:00:00-04:00</TranDate>
<PartNum>004-11-41-211</PartNum>
<TranQty>10</TranQty>
<DimCode />
<LotNum />
<ReasonCode>AA002</ReasonCode>
<OrderNum>0</OrderNum>

I would make a pre-processing BPM on this method where the condition is:

the IssueReturn.TranReference field of the changed row is equal to the ""
value

and the action is to raise an exception.

Note that using the "Null" condition doesn't work. Otherwise, clean and
easy.

What version are you on? If you are in 8.03 you can create a BPM to trigger a pop up.

Use an Exception message in a BPM.

This will force them to fill in the field. An informational message won't
stop them.
