Hello All,

I am new to the manufacturing sector and am very new to E10 as well. That being said, I am an Inventory Coordinator and am struggling with paint usage vs MOM projected. What I would love to see is when the painter logs in their activity, they put in the start weight of their paint box, and then at the end of the activity, they log their end weight. However, our tech guy seems to think this isn’t at all possible, and I would like possible better solutions so that when the painters finish, the quantity used correlates to the job and running balance of our on hand paint.

Interestingly, we just had a forum discussion on this very scenario recently.

The Epicor process for what you are trying to do is called Issue Material and Return Material.

The MOM has a projected amount which is never quite right.

When you start the job activity, you would also do the Issue Material process to the job based on the pounds of powder issued.

Normally, there is a WIP bin location the material is issued to that is separate from the standard bin location.

When the operation is completed, the Return Material will bring the left over back into inventory.

The material on the job and MOM will need the backflush flag turned off.

These are available through the MES client as well as the full client screens.

Sounds like you are using backflush which issues the exact qty from MOM\BOM. You need to use issuing.

Essentially, you have to “issue” your material to the job (weigh it in) then BEFORE job close, you 'return" unused material (weigh it out)
