Hi Stephanie,
I would start with getting the layout of the 858 from your trading
partner.
Ask them what version of edi translation they are using ( ie. X12 2004 )
Ask them what software they are using, you may want to have the same
Translation software. Ask them, what are the critical data fields used?
This will
Help to simplify the setup. The standard has lots of fields that may not
be used by
Your trading partner.
Ask your trading partner about the ftp transfers, are they secured etc.
You will have to talk with Vantage Custom Programing to get a quote on
the code
Needed to create the 858.
This will get you started. Let me know what you find.
Thanks,

John,
Thank you for your response. I am brand new at this EDI game and
have no clue where to start. I do know that I need to extract the
Bill of Lading information from Vantage and put into the 858 format,
then upload it to an ftp site. I don't know how to do this. Do I
need edi translation software or is it possible to run a query that
pulls that info then converts it?
Thanks,
Stephanie
