Setting the objects properties can deliver mixed results because Epicor
is driven by the data views and not necessarily the objects.

If you want to set these kind of properties, your best bet is to set
them on the data view directly, with code, or indirectly using extended
properties.

I just had this requirement and I decided to use the extended properties
menu option, in E9, because it doesn't require any code and it would be
easier for someone in the future to "see" what fields have extended
properties.

Other than screen placement and initial bindings, I would make all
changes to the data view and don't bother with the controls.

Hi,

I would like to hear what others use to make form fields read only?
And, any ideas for setting a field to read only based on user security?

I sometimes want to make a form entry field read only.
Setting the object properties to read only doesn't always work.
I guess when the form loads, my read only settings are overwritten.
So I found tech tip example with example code to set ExtendedProperties.
This is works OK, just wondering what else might be available.

Thanks
