Preshipment for job

Hi Claudia,
Â
Thank You for considering my queries.
There is a sales order for whole job, not for each assembly. Client needs to ship finished part (assembly) of the job before finishing the entire job.
So the shipment and invoice for all the part in the job should be based on the sales order which was created for the entire job.

Regards,
Deepa.M

Under what circumstances do you ship something to a customer without a sales
order for it? How do you invoice?

Hi,
In Vantage 8.03.404, Before completing the Job is it possible to ship the assembly part which is partly finished in the Job?
I try the following process for the above scenario:
1. I create a Job Entry for make to order,
2. I create two assemblies, BOM, Operations.
3. I Complete one assembly in the job and the assembly part should be shipped it to customer without sales order for that assembly.
Here is the problem In customer shipment entry If create a pack ID for the assembly, there is no assembly in Line and if I mention the order number, it takes the defalut production part, not the assembly part.
Is there any other work around?
The solution would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
In Vantage 8.03.404, Before completing the Job is it possible to ship the assembly part which is partly finished in the Job?
I try the following process for the above scenario:
1. I create a Job Entry for make to order,
2. I create two assemblies, BOM, Operations.
3. I Complete one assembly in the job and the assembly part should be shipped it to customer without sales order for that assembly.
Here is the problem In customer shipment entry If create a pack ID for the assembly, there is no assembly in Line and if I mention the order number, it takes the defalut production part, not the assembly part.

Instead of completing the first op, try completing the last op....

Although you may start getting variances if you go down this route....

It CAN'T work as you are shipping an assembly that is really at a non-stock WIP state as far as the Job is considered. It also sounds like your sales order is referencing the part number your assemblies are nested under (further screwing up what you are trying to do).

With AMM, you should be able to create two jobs (one for each assembly) and combine them into one - allowing you to then receive each assembly (or ship direct).

...Never tried it so no idea if it works.

A 'cludge' would be to do a Misc Shipment and physically ship the customer the one assembly (and worry about the job status, order status & transaction chain catching up to reality later when you complete the job and order).

Hi,

I try the following process for the above scenario:
1. I create a Job Entry for make to order,
2. I create two assemblies, BOM, Operations.
3. I Complete one assembly in the job and the assembly part should be shipped it to customer without sales order for that assembly.
Here is the problem In customer shipment entry If create a pack ID for the assembly, there is no assembly in Line and if I mention the order number, it takes the defalut production part, not the assembly part.
