Price changes

Hi,

I’m looking for guidance on the best practice for managing two different sales prices for the same part in Epicor. Specifically:

  • Price 1: Base price
  • Price 2: Price including additional logistics costs

I’ve reviewed some documentation and understand that Epicor allows multiple price lists using different PriceListCode values. My questions are:

  1. Is using two separate price lists (e.g., BASE and LOGISTICS) the recommended approach for this scenario?
  2. Would there be any advantage to using price breaks or another method instead?
  3. For DMT imports, what is the correct template and structure for maintaining these two prices?
Any advice on best practice and potential implications for order entry or reporting would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

One first thing you should do is watch this “Back to Basics” webinar that i presented recently. It might answer many of your questions. Back to Basics – Proper Use of Sales Price Lists and Purchase Price Lists

Basically, you can create many price lists, and assign them directly to your customers, but also, you can assign them to “Customer groups” and then put your customers in the customer groups… this way when a price list changes, you only need to go to the customer groups to change, and all the associated customers automatically get the new price list.

The big question here is HOW does Epicor know which price list to use? Is it customer based (i.e. do some customers get one price list, and other customers get the other one) or can any customer get either one, and it’s up to the sales person to select the correct price list at time of order?

It isn’t just the list, it’s also the process used to choose the correct one for the circumstance.

Customers can be assigned a price list via their Customer Group or directly to their customer record. If there are multiple price lists assigned (to either location) they are checked from the Top Down.

Price lists assigned in Customer Entry take precedence over Customer Group price lists.
