Price List Change Tracking

Hi there, wondering if/how others are tracking changes to pricing and
price-lists. We have a funky corporate reporting requirement that goes like
this:Â

1. Track Margins, and report. (easy, no issues there, cost versus price)
2. Track % of Sales Dollars, weekly, due to price increases
      a. 1st Quarter, claim any dollars in sales on parts that had price
increases in the previous calendar year (Current Price to last-year's begining
price)
      b. 2-4th Quarters, claim any dollars in sales on parts that had price
increases durring the current year

OK, kinda funky, right? Our approach was to use a single price list, and track
old prices in two UD fields (one for Q1, and one for Q2Q3Q4). Build a
dashboard, and we were good.

Here is the problem: about a dozen of our customers get special pricing. We
tried to implement this using discounts on the Sales Order Lines, but the way
Vantage does discount calculations made contract review a pain (Vantage
calculates out to at least 4 decimal places when applying discounts, and
rounds-up at the end. PO's were not matching our Sales Orders for contract
review, which raised all sorts of problems with sales, and AR.)

So, we are back to multiple price lists, which makes tracking of old prices
difficult, updating prices difficult (we update pricing daily as part of
on-going margin analysis) and reporting on sales due to increases very
time-consuming.

Does anyone else have a similar situation? Is there a way to update, track, and
report that can make our lives easier? I can think of several possablilites,
but they require some significant customization...Â

Any thoughts or ideas or imput would be awsome!!

Thanks
