Print Job Tracking

Hi,

You could use business activity manager to track it but don't have
any experience reporting on the change logs.

However, in vantage 6.1, the last printed date against the job is not
when it was actually printed. That field gets update when the print
preview option is used also. So if someone prints previews the
traveller but doesn't actually physically print it that field gets
populated. I have had to write some custom code to update a vb field
to get the actual print date. This way, when a traveller is printed ,
a duplicate stamp appears on the document.

Another option, if you only use one printer, is to report on the
printer log files. However this is messy also.

I am looking for a way (i.e. software) to track print jobs specifically
the job travel as my company still colates and prints these documents.
Anyhow crystal will allow me to display the current print time and
user, but I want to be able to record each and everytime and the job
card is printed. I've considered using object auditing in Windows. My
goal is two-fold cut down on paper and also ensure jobs aren't made
twice in error.
