Printing Documents with Job Traveler

I don't know if you have APM (Advanced Print Management), but I am pretty sure if you send a Word Document through, it will be converted to one Tiff file (for all pages of the Word Doc)....

Thanks for the help. I am getting closer. But.... My original document
that I need to print along with the Job Traveler is multiple pages. The
document is a docx. I have not been successful in finding any image type
that treats the entire document as one document. For instance the
conversion programs I have tried that goes from docx or pdf to tiff all end
up with a separate tiff for each page. Is there any image types that I can
convert to that will keep my finished document as 1 document? Or is there
another solution available?

Thanks again, I am learning a lot on this project.

I am trying to figure out the easiest way to print some documents (PDF) along with the Job Traveler. The documents are specific to the finished part. If anyone is currently doing this or knows how to do this I would appreciate any and all advice.

Epicor 9.04.507A
Add the location of the PDF Files to a UD Table and Link it back to the
finished Part, Modify the Traveler RDD to Include that UD table, in Crystal
Use the OLE Object option to bring in the PDF in the right place :)

Let me know if you have any questions.

Jose,

I have a question or two...If I have a static path and just the file name changes based on part & revision, I can make a formula in Crystal based on that path. But, I do not know how to add the OLE object. When I try, I have to put in an existing or create new...Then, I change the graphic location to be my path from the formula, but the OLE object does not change...What are you saying is possible that I did not find ability to do yet online searching google? Am I missing a step or why does this not work as you describe below? I don't think just using a UD table to already have the path is the issue - but maybe I am incorrect? If so, can you explain why?

Thank you,
Karen

I haven't tried it with PDF's but I know it works with images, is there a
way you can save your PDF's as TIFFS? or something like that? Then the

OK, I guess it is the pdf part then...Everything I see online says it can't be done with pdfs and my trials also show that...I expect it will be a much bigger project but will need to be a discussion if we want to attach the items...We will need to change them to tiffs or other image types...

Thanks,

Jose,

I am having a problem similar to Karen. When I create a OLE object, I don't
see any option to use a formula or variable to point to different objects
based on the data. I have tried both PDF, which appears not to be
available, but I have also tried to add an OLE object with the document
being a docx. I am creating the OLE object by Insert, OLE Object, selecting
the object type, create from file. This seems to make a static object with
no option to change based on data. I am using CR 11.5.3.417.

Am I missing something?

Mike

Thanks for the help. I am getting closer. But.... My original document
that I need to print along with the Job Traveler is multiple pages. The
document is a docx. I have not been successful in finding any image type
that treats the entire document as one document. For instance the
conversion programs I have tried that goes from docx or pdf to tiff all end
up with a separate tiff for each page. Is there any image types that I can
convert to that will keep my finished document as 1 document? Or is there
another solution available?

Thanks again, I am learning a lot on this project.
Mike

We were hoping to do something similar in Vantage as well but haven't found a method to date either... We print shop floor drawing collated with the traveler assemblies and some are multiple pages and they go back and forth between 8 ½ x 11 and 11 x 17... We have been doing this sometime but are using a software called PlanetPress Watch to accomplish this... it works flawless, but would have been nice to just do it natively in vantage and not have another piece in the game.

Subject: RE: [Vantage] Printing Documents with Job Traveler

Thanks for the help. I am getting closer. But.... My original document
that I need to print along with the Job Traveler is multiple pages. The
document is a docx. I have not been successful in finding any image type
that treats the entire document as one document. For instance the
conversion programs I have tried that goes from docx or pdf to tiff all end
up with a separate tiff for each page. Is there any image types that I can
convert to that will keep my finished document as 1 document? Or is there
another solution available?

Thanks again, I am learning a lot on this project.
Mike

If you are using word or something common you can run a process that will
convert all pages to images or something friendly then add entries to a UD
table..
