Printing Lot Numbers on Job Traveler (V8)

Hi John,

I like this idea! The only down side is that the report has more
information than I am looking for. Maybe I can create a custom report to
handle this.

Thanks,

Have you considered using the Production Detail Report? It can be
printed after kitting and lists all material transactions for the job
including lot numbers.

Hello,

It has been requested that when a Job Traveler prints, the materials
sections prints out the lot numbers for the material that was issued.

No didn't see lot number in the Job Traveler data file and I assume that
in order to retrieve this information I would need to link to the
PartTran table. Also, I know this won't be straight forward because of
the one-to-many relationship between JobMtl and PartTran.

Has anyone done this before that could share some tips to achieve this?

Thanks,

Interesting. They print the traveler AFTER they issue material? How do they
know what to pull especially if there is an exception for a single order? Or
do they want a listing of available lot numbers for the Job Traveler?

Mark W.
We went around on this a couple of times.

We will be using the Job Pick List to know what needs to be picked,
issue material, then print traveler.

I know this is not standard but we are an FDA regulated business and we
need to record the lot numbers on the Job Travelers for traceability and
want to avoid having to hand write them.

We are not ready to validate Vantage and will be using the Job Traveler
as our history record.

As a frame of reference (we are also medical), our solution to the same
dilemma that you face was to make a slight modification to the pick list.
We added a write-in space for "quantity issued", "initials", "employee
number" and "date" next to each lot number.

Our process is to print the job traveler and send it to the department that
issues the material. They print the pick list, issue the material to the
job in Vantage, and record the transaction next to the appropriate lot
number on the pick list (with date and initials). The pick list is then
added to the job packet and, according to our standard operating
procedures, becomes one of the documents that define the history record for
that manufacturing lot.

If we return excess material to inventory, the notation is made below the
original transaction on the pick list with date and initial. If we need
further materials issued to the job, another pick list is printed, issued
and recorded, then added to the job traveler packet with the other pick
list.

Hope this helps (seems a little easier that what you are trying to do)
