Printing Problem with Job Travelers

I have had some Crystal Reports (in 8.0) in the past that print
very... very... slowly. What I did was loaded up the Crystal Report
Designer, waited 15-20 minutes for the report to load, then opened the
Page Setup and checked the "No Printer (optimize for screen display)"
check box, and saved the report. This is in Crystal XI R 2, so I
can't tell you if that's the same in whatever version 6.1 uses.

Don't know if that will help you, but it might be worth a shot.

I'm seeing lots of dupe's although some messages are not duplicating.

I assume the method of porting is the issue.

I post from outlook.

We are on Vantage 6.1 and are having a problem with one particular
workstation printing the Job Traveler. When the operator selects to print,
sometimes we do not see the display box that says "printing records" and the
job will not print. If she exits Vantage and logs back in she can print.
All other applications print fine. The job traveler is a modified Crystal
report.

Have any of you seen this issue and corrected it?

Thanks

When I have had just one person with a Crystal based report problem I look first to other software that may incorporate CR as a buit in report writer. Such as our Sage Fixed Assets system that goofs up CR with every new patch release. I have to either uninstall and reinstall the Vantage Client or sometimes just applying the CR Patches from the Epicor FTP site will get the right DLLs into use. Another trick it to distribute some CR report to that PC because this too copies a bunch of DLLs. Not saying this is 100% fix but if the DLL files are not exactly the version Vantage wants it can cause issues.

I have had a call in to Epicor since Jan 2005 (ref 886754PSC). Obviously,
they have not been able to solve the problem. The best answer so far has
something to do with choosing a printer that is not the default of that
workstation - and so Epicor's position is that it's not a Vantage problem
but "other" software. I have several user's who experience this and have
(for now) accepted the fact that it is an issue that does not have a
solution. Sometimes, if you change the default printer at the workstations
control panel before attempting the print, the failure does not occur. And
also despite what Epicor may say, the fact that it is a modified Crystal
report is irrelevant since the error also occurs the out-of-box traveler and
other Crystal reports such as the Sales Order Acknowledgement and Purchase
orders.
