I promised Kevin Long, head of accounting at Southern Tool, I would
give him credit for this discovery as my way of eating crow for not
initially believing his find.
The "RS" record line, which is ignored by feds but used if submitted
to state, has at least 3 errors.
The following from Epicor, with a patch promised ASAP...
Please reference call # 766076MPS if you have any additional
questions on
this issue.
Lonnie,
Below is the response from development regarding the magnetic media
issue.
They have created SCR 3312 regarding this.

RESPONSE FROM DEVELOPMENT:
SCR 3312
Note: the magnetic file is still fine for submission to the IRS
because the
IRS ignores the state lines.
When Vantage 5.00 (Cairo) SCR 1283 made 2001 changes to exporting W-2
data
(pr/prf90-rp.w), it moved the name and address but left part of the
old last
name and address showing and covered up the employer state tax ID
number.
Please check with the IRS specifications, available at
http://www.ssa.gov/employer/01mmref1.txt, to make sure that the state
line
(the one beginning with "RS") matches the guidelines in the document.
