Process on "Run at Agent Startup" type schedule running 20x per minute

Kinetic Cloud v2024.2.12

Was looking to check something in the System Monitor by another user. I went to the History Tasks, and changed it to “Display All Tasks”. There were A LOT of Multi-Company Server Direct processes. Between 15 and 35 tasks per minute. I exported the grid to Excel, and that process has run ~175,000 times in the last 5 days.

The Multi-Company Server Direct Process set to run on a schedule type “Run at Agent Startup”.

I’m just wondering if this is a known issue that I haven’t heard about, or if this is something I need to submit to Epicor.

Or if it’s working as designed, and that schedule type should be running tens of thousands of times per day

I feel like Jose has posted on something like this, but not sure.

I did a quick search for “Run at Agent Startup” in the Kinetic category and didn’t see anything.

The Multi-Company Direct Server Process is generally launched at startup but when it’s scheduled, it can be set up as Continuous Processing with a delay between runs.

Right, that’s what I was going to ask Mark, I just don’t do anything multicompany even though we have two, so I didn’t chime in with a question haha.

Ahhhh so if that was set with a delay of 0, it would just start again the second it ended?

Not sure if zero is valid, but once a minute will certainly flood your logs as well!

That would flood the logs, but I was getting 25000 runs per day minimum. Last Friday was over 49000.

Were there multiple scheduled at once? I feel like it doesn’t let two run at same time. Also mathematically how many minutes in one day, how many seconds…

I can see the seconds thing maybe playing out but neither of those numbers rhyme with the number of seconds in a day.

No, that was the only one scheduled. And when I disabled that schedule, no more tasks ran for that process.

Also, 1440 minutes per day, 86400 seconds. So last Friday was more than once every 2 seconds.

Was it firing for (or in) each company in your multi-company setup? Might help explain the exponentiality factor.

No it was all firing from one company. And there are only 3 companies, I can’t imagine why it was running 15+ times per minute.

OK…so if it’s set to “Run At Agent Startup” and the Agent isn’t actually off/stopped/down all those times…that sounds like another b**, or at least NOT “working as designed”.
