I recently had the same problem on all of my workstations. The problem
turned out to be a non-vantage computer running windows98 that had
a defective NIC card. Even though the TCP/IP protocol wasn't in it's
protocol stack, it was still causing the errors. It was often manifested
as a "illeagle operation by ProWin32" or else the TCP/IP error. The error
started happenining occasionally but got more frequent as time went by so
that it was happening numerous times a day. My solution was to replace the
NIC
card. I discovered the rogue computer by shutting down all computers
on the network and then brought them up one at a time. This may not be
an option for you. You could also run diagnostics on each NIC to see if
it shows problems. My thanks to Epicor Tech support for helping me with
this one.
