Subject: [Vantage] Prodcut Configurator - Round Function

I am trying to use the Round function in a product configuration. It
works great to round the decimals off of my number, however I want to
round to the nearest thousand. I have tried using a negative number to
indicate where to round, similar to the way you would do so in Excel but
any negative Number used in the formula results in 0 rather than the
rounded number. Has anyone had any success rounding in PC other than
rounding decimals?

I have a field named RunQty, this field is generally something like
65,412.77 I would like it rounded to 64,000(or up where appropriate), I
am using:

Round(Runqty,0) the result is 65,412.

Round(RunQty,-1) the result = 0

Round(RunQty,-2) the result = 0

Thanks

Try this:

DEF VAR a AS DECI.

DEF VAR b AS DECI.

a = 65789.79.

b = ROUND(a / 1000 ,0) * 1000.

DISPLAY b.

The result is 66,000.

Todd:

I gave you some false information.

Try the following code to round the first value to zero decimals and then
the second one to truncate to the nearest 1000.

I am using Progress code for the example.

DEF VAR a AS DECI.

DEF VAR b AS DECI.

DEF VAR c AS INTE.

a = 65679.75.

b = ROUND(a,0).

DISPLAY b. /* rounds to zero decimals - 65679 */

c = TRUNCATE(b / 1000 ,0) * 1000 /* rounds to the nearest 1000 - up or down
*/.

DISPLAY c. /* 66000*/

Good luck,
