** Product Configurator**

I was fortunate in my short-sightedness. I have always done my configurations
in the live database and test them in Quote Maintenance, but I always do so
under a test part and revision. When I move a new rev/configuration into
production, I just copy the rev and the configuration to a new rev using the
Engineering Workbench. I know it's a little late for the rest of you but for
future reference for others...

Hi To every one !
Since it is my very first Post on the Group.
We are on 803.305h. VISTA.

I need to know how to Export a configuration of a part which we made into Product configuration ( test data set) to Live (Data Set).
I made a very comprehensive Configuration for some part on Test data set and after finishing them I came to know there is not tool to export and import to my Live Data set .
I wanted to know if some one come across same situation and how did you deal with it?
Thanks
Muhammad Sarfaraz

I had heard that someone in Epicor was working on a tool to do this, but
whether they finished it and it is available to buy I am not sure.

Im going to be in the same boat soon, my plan will be this:

1) Duplicate the part with a similar name.
2) Change/Update the 'field' in the new part record that allows it to show up in the 'live' data
set
( In our case, we have a single database, with the 'Company' field dictating where parts
are 'visible'.)
3) Copy original part records from each 'configurator' table , assigning the 'new' part number to the copied records , as well as the correct 'Company' field.
I'll have to study the Product Conf. tables better in order to know what to copy.

You'll need either 'ProVision' to to use ODBC to create/update records.

I know Custom Solutions is working on a utility - we are in the same
boat as well. We have provided additional specifications to the custom
solutions group to expand the functionality.

The current utility is kind of limited depnding on what you want to
copy. Right now it is my understanding that you have to contract for
it through custom solutions to get the utility.
