Production Planner Workbench

Could you please clarify what is meant by ‘consume’? The quantities for ‘available’ and ‘consume’ are showing the same amount.
Thank for your help in advance.

I’ve been trying to figure out a scenario when these quantities WOULDN’T be the same… but coming up blank right now.

Below are the definitions:

It makes better sense if you arrange your columns in a different order:

For the highlighted row, I need a Qty of (8) for the job, I have (2), the assumption is that I will consume (2) of the “available” qty… and I would have a shortage of (6).

I agree these numbers are going to be the same. At least, again, I’m struggling to think of when they may not be… but can’t think of one at the moment. I suppose it depends on what “available” means and whether it is taking into account reservations/allocations for the same materials. I would assume it IS taking those into account as they are calling it “Available” and not simply On Hand Quantity.

So, yeah, I kinda expect these values to always be the same.

I believe “consumed” is allocating inventory to a job. I think there are some ways to build allocation schemes to show what the best option would look like.

Say you have 2 jobs that both use part X with the same due date. In that instance, it could look like

Req Avail Consum Short
4 4 2 2
4 4 2 2

Hello David,

Could you let me know where you got these definitions from? Where can I find them?

This was going to be my thought as well. I suspect that without performing a Reservation/Allocation, that you would not see these numbers be different. Might even only be Allocation. Would need to test to be sure.

I was just looking at the PPlanMtl table in BAQ Designer…
