Progress Dump & Load Question

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm doing the ASCII D&L over the weekend, so hope it helps.

Hi All,

Last weekend I did a binary dump & load of our Progress 64-bit database. We are currently running Epicor 9.05 701.

Ever since the dump & load it takes over an hour to run a simple inventory wip report. It never took this long before. I followed the dump & load instructions provided by support and also ran the 5460 conversion program at the end. I'm beginning to think I may have done something wrong? Any feedback would be helpful.

Thanks,
David
Are you only seeing this symptom in this one report? Or elsewhere? Are
screen rendering times the same? Opening a large job? Invoicing?

If it's *only* this report, then that kind of throws out my theory of a
botched index rebuild. Still could be, I guess. I'm sure you've already
called Support. I'm no Progress Admin expert, but you should be able to run
reindexes on your db. I know in the lovely land of MS SQL I used to
reindex my SQL db weekly.

It's possible that the indexes did not get rebuilt completely or correctly,
or there could be a different issue where the Inventory WIP wasn't actually
accurate before because it wasn't getting all the data for some reason.

Can you take a copy of your DB prior to the D&L, put it into your test DB
and see how it works?

Also, did you use a DB with the same blocksize as the DB you dumped from?
Often times people make that mistake and go from a DB with a 8192 blocksize
to a 4096 when they reload it.

I was always very cautious on my D&L's (and still am). I'll always run the

The ASCII D&L will correct some database problems that the binary one won't. Â I've done both and I don't recall any difference in the time it took, but the ASCII D&L does take some extra hard drive space to perform.
