Progress Help

Not sure exactly what you need but try the following:

define variable done-first as logical.
output to c:\vntgwork\part.txt.

/* put the column labels into the file */

find _file no-lock
where _file._file-name EQ "part".
for each _field no-lock of _file:
if not done-first
then done-first = true.
else put ",".
put '"' _field._label '"'.
end.
put skip.

/* now put the data records into the file */

For each part
export delimiter ',' part.
end.
output close.

This will give you a text file where the first line is the label of each column in the correct sequence, and the remaining lines are the records.

HTH.

I have a need to export all the data out of the Parts table. I
currently have a .P program to export the fields that I list to
a .csv file, but I need to select all of them. Does anybody know of
an easier way to do this, other than listing out all the fields?

Thanks,

OUTPUT TO c:\vntgwork\part.txt.
FOR EACH Part:
EXPORT DELIMITER "~011" Part.
END.
OUTPUT CLOSE.

This is some code I found on the vantage usergroup file site that exports to
a tab delemited file. I'm sure you could change the delimiter.

Thanks

A simple delimiter change, and this works for me. Thanks Jeremy. Now can
anybody figure out how to bring over the field Lables?
