Progress OpenEdge Manual

Thanks for the info John.

When you ask "what does openedge cost?" what are you referring to? The
database package?

Thanks,

Hi Joe,

I agree with your reasoning and would like to do the same.

I found some info by google openedge manual.

There is a pdf file on the progress web download site. ( 180 pages I
think)

Maybe you know what does openedge cost?

Thanks,

John Mansfield

Hello,

I am beginning my quest to become an OpenEdge guru! :-)

I thought a logical place to start would be an OpenEdge manual and/or
OpenEdge Database Administrator Guide.

Do you know if this is something that Epicor provides to its clients? If
not, where could I get my hands on one?

Thanks,

Joe Rojas

Hi Joe,

I am curious, what prompts this noble quest?

What version of Vantage are you on?

What kind of work (reporting) do you plant to do?

Is the manual on their web site as pdf?

Best of luck on your quest.

Thanks,

Hmmm, good question.

The way I was looking at it was that we have this database that contains
a lot of our company information and it would be nice to not be limited
to just what Vantage offers with regards to data inquiries. I was
thinking that if I a had a solid understanding of how OpenEdge works and
functions that it would give us the ability to expand our capabilities
with out being bound to just Vantage.

Plus on top of that, I rather enjoy understanding how different programs
function.

At the end of the day, will it look good on my resume....probably not
but the experience should be rewarding.

Thanks,

Joe,

I found the documentation on the Progress Web site. It's about a
100MB download, but everything you want is here:

Hi Kevin!

Thanks for the link. It looks like these documents are for 10.1a but I
would image that they will be applicable for 10.
