Project Billing: Retained Revenue

Hi All,

E9.05.702A

I’m a non-finance person about to ask a finance question so hopefully the answer can be dumbed down for me.

We are reviewing the GL Control Code for the Project Billing type and are stumped by the account context “Retained Revenue”.
What is “Retained Revenue”? We are familiar with Retained Earnings but not Retained Revenue.
Additionally, what would hit this account context with regards to project billing?

Thanks all!

Joe I haven’t actually found the transaction that debits or credits the
retained revenue GL account but my guess is that if you recognized revenue
with no cost (project retainer for some reason the project never went
forward) and closed the project it would treat it as retained revenue (i.e.
we get to keep this money even though the project was cancelled)
