Prowin32.exe error. Please help!

I would check the Server and Client's event logs. I would also check the Progress Database log file. Progress does a good job of logging errors in there.

Subject: [Vantage] Prowin32.exe error. Please help!!

Hello all,

I have set up a new server, installed Vantage on it, transferred my database and installed my first client all without problems. The problem is I can not set up Vantage on any of my other workstations. The logon screen comes up ok, after I type in the username and password the window turns white and sits there for 2-3 minutes. Then I get a "Program Error" "Prowin32.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being generated"

Does anyone have any suggestions? The first workstation that I installed is XP Pro the others are all WIN2K does that have any significance?

Thank you,
Abe Klassen

Check the event log on the server and see if you are out of client access
licenses. I'm assuming you installed Vantage in mulituser mode instead of
stand alone.

Are you using the same service number?
If not you will have to either change the service file in your
win32\system32\drivers\etc directory
OR
Reinstall the client
