PSA: Clearing browser cache after major upgrade (is a good idea)

Example errors (for future searchers):

Access denied: REST calls must pass a valid API key

Requested Company is not configured: Ice.BO.KineticErpSvc.
(This is on EpicCare as KB0138560.)

The story

We upgraded from 2023.2 to 2024.2 a couple weeks ago and got a flood of these errors for about a week.

Even better was one user that was still seeing the 2023 color scheme, to the point that her about page was showing the 2023 info:

The KB article above says “this is normal you idiot, just clear your cache.” I may have paraphrased that.

So, then we had to educate people on how to follow instructions, etc. Great fun. Also, the default is like a week, but it’s much better to clear the cache going back a month or so.

I searched on here even today and do not see anything close to the same experience.

And the upgrade guides don’t care - here’s the newest:

I get it, you all hate the browser so much that I may be the only person on Earth that upgraded my users from browser version to browser version. (I have not installed an Epicor client since December 2023, except for IT people.)

But seriously, no one else runs into this on upgrades???

Anyway, heads up.

Not the only one. We just went from 2023.2.whatever on-prem to 2025.1.11 cloud. All browser users - only a couple of clients installed for systems stuff.
