Pump Call Blank Title 71882

Not sure about the outsourcing bit but I was told by an Epicor employee
that they did lay off about 300 people.

Just received unsolicited call stating Epicor has layed off over 300
people. In house people are being shifted to Epicor 9 and version 8
support is going to be subcontracted out.

(I abhor unsolicited calls BTW)

anyone else receive this type of call?
My CAM tells me this is untrue. Who was the call from? -bws

I don't know if they laid off 300 people, but they did lay off some
people.

I highly doubt they are going to sub-contract out support for 8 or for any
other previous version. Not sure who or where the call came from, but I am
doubting the validity of it. While I am sure there are programmers who will
be shifted, which will reduce the number working on 8, I don't see them
doing what is claimed with this call. They did have some more recent
layoffs, but I think the number was a lot lower than 300.

The Epicor board (and presumably NSB Retail Systems' board - not an unsolicited hostile takeover) approved BUYING NSB Retail Systems.

This has been in the works for a while.

Epicor has NOT sold out TO NSB Retail Systems.

For our sakes I hope this is just a cash cow they can milk to ride out the recession.

If not, more divided attention (and probably another product to merge into a single code base before getting the current code base optimized).

..."Epicor 10 in 2010" next year's Perspectives mantra? {:o

LOL

Maybe on of those laid off staffers walked out with a phone list and is exacting some revenge by scaring some users.

As for the veracity of what a CAM would reveal, they are profit generators & mollifiers - not your friends. (To be fair, I'm sure they are under tremendous pressure to toe the party line - and they wouldn't risk crossing that line and losing a job any more than you or I would in this economy.)

IMHO I'd say that there's an element of truth in everything below.

Epicor have been making staff redundant, that's public knowledge, maybe
not 300 but don't forget they have offices around the world so this is
not just the USA.

I expect that the Epicor 9 statement is close to the truth as well as
it's Epicor's new cash cow, they're going to have to push it hard with
plenty of support and development if they want to atract new customers
to it

The last statement seems to be the most unusual, but looking through
posts on here they opened a support centre in Mexico to save money so
why not go a step further ?.

I haven't but I heard that they had some layoffs - mostly in the
non-Vantage/Epicor line and that it was world-wide.

I can see people getting moved to Epicor 9 but Vantage 8 is so similar that
I can't imagine that they would make a separate group for it.
