Purchase Order Status

A full balance due qty (for the release being received against) receipt closes the release. (If your part being received is Inspection required, I believe that close only occurs AFTER full bal qty is inspection PASSED - but I could be wrong on that aspect).

If the release is the last open release on the line, the line will also close. If the line is the last open line on the PO the PO will close.

It's been a while since we thoroughly pretested all system behaviors during piloting in order to adapt any legacy system biased processes to Vantage behavior where needed. (Been live 16 months.) We've also upgraded from 403 to 405a since live (nothing compelling yet in later releases to drive us to incur the testing expense of upgrading) so my (fading) memory of all aspects of the system could no longer be accurate.

PO processing in general seemed to have the biggest changes in the upgrades we've endured so it is possible AP invoice post is required now before a release will auto-close.

Other than that, I believe only a buyer manually forcing a release, line or PO is the only other method.

All that said, whether the delivery release is closed or not has no impact on MRP unless you manually close the release short of the full balance due. (It's not uncommon for certain commodities to be acceptable for vendor to ship up to +/- 5% of requested quantity... It is inherent yield variability in the production process of the commodity.)

MRP only cares about the net open scheduled receipts & requirements (as well as Min O/H and Safeties) to suggest change orders and new orders.

Subject: [Vantage] Purchase Order Status

What are the inputs that will cause a purchase order line/release to close? The reason for the question is we had a situation where a line was closed in error and MRP told the purchaser to place a new order (as it should).

The change log shows an employee did change the status, but she says she did not manually close the line and she is comptenant at her job.

So, other than the obvious (receipt, manually closed), what other actions can cause the line/release to close?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts and God bless Willie Nelson.
