Purchasing questions

Thank you Fredy,

We tried the 1/64 option, but Vantage rounds the factor off to short and
after 3, it starts trying to buy 3.99 and so forth. Truth be known, our
vendor wants to see the full 128 to 196 or whatever multiple on the PO.
I did end up calling support and they added me to the other 4 calls on an
enhancement request, don't know the number yet though.
I also called on the Minimum Dollar order. I submitted a new enhancement
request for a flag or warning that tells the buyer, you have not met the
minimum dollar order amount, are you sure you want to place the order for
these quantities? more or less anyway.
Thank you both (Diane and yourself) for your suggestions.

Aaron,

There is no place in Vantage to put a minimum dollar order. Even if there
was it would just be a suggestion for the buyer. If you had two parts to buy
from the same vendor and they both were under $100 how can it suggest what
to purchase? As for your second question could you not set up the Inventory
unit of measure as each and Purchasing unit of measure as tray and then have
a factor of 1/64. I believe this would suggest to buy 2 trays.

Subject: [Vantage] Purchasing questions

I have two related questions posed by my purchasing team.
1. Is there a way to set a minimum dollar value from a vendor that
will
suggest you buy more to hit the minimum and not just suggest that
you pay
more for each item. example (need 5 parts to build 5 final
assemblies at 1$
per. Vendor requires minimum order of $100. How do we get vantage
to
suggest we buy 100 and not to suggest we pay $100 for 5?)
2. Is there a way to tell Vantage that we need to buy parts in
groups
similar to cases. example (we need 100 parts to finish a job. Part
is sold
in trays of 64. How do we get Vantage to suggest to order 128 and
not just
100?)

Any input on either question would be great. I figured I would
start here
and then go to support if needed.

Thank you.

Aaron,

In the part master, under the inv/purch button, you can set min/max lot
sizes for purchasing and or manufacturing. You can also set min/max on hand
quantities if you normally stock an item. I do not believe it is set by the
vendor, although you can and should specify the vendor in this same area of
the part master. The lead time from the vendor is also very important if
you purchase from suggestions. Hope this helps - have a great day!
