Question: any way to tie top level and component jobs together without using subassemblies?

Some time back our company went away from defining MOMs using subassemblies to a single level of parts for the top level part. We are now getting a question if there is a way to tie together jobs generated for manufactured parts to the job for the top level part, without having to switch back to using subassemblies to do it. I’m not aware of any way to accomplish this. Anyone have an idea?

yes, if the sub-level parts are marked as non-stock, then the resulting sub-jobs become make direct jobs, and they reference their parent job.
Also when scheduling ANY of the jobs (parent jobs or children jobs) you can have it move around the schedule of all associated jobs too… This is done with the “Multi-job” scheduling option:

Your component parts on the top-level job would be materials, marked ‘Make Direct’.

The ‘sub’ jobs to produce those component parts are linked to the parent job by a ‘Make to Job’ link.
