Question on Progress Lock Table Entries for 9.05.604

This is the error I was getting in the Log File:

[11/05/23@05:49:07.110-0700] P-000380 T-003256 1 AS -- (Procedure: 'buildConfigSequence pc/GenConfigSeqProc.p' Line:5735) WARNING: -nb exceeded. Automatically increasing from 90 to 122. (5407)

I will look into ProTop. I have used the progress tools to look for locking before also, but never really told me much.

Let me know what you make of this error.

Regards,
Georeg Hicks

We are having issues with the Engineering Workbench taking 10 minutes to check-in a part and then giving a 4GL STOP error, and also Order Entry having same issue. Some work fine but depending upon server traffic...

Epicor recommended raising the "Lock Table Entries" value to prevent this. I have raised it to 425,984 but still have the issue. "Spin Lock Retries" is set at 100,000.

Does anyone have this issue or know if the 425,984 is high enough? It says to increment by 8192.

I haven't experienced this exact issue, but it sounds like you may have
something else running that's locking the records. Do you have any
customizations or SC workflows or anything that could be doing that?

I had set up Epcior Replication Server but it failed and then we had SQL issues so I have disabled the Sonic AppServer and stopped those services, and the Sonic Manager processes also. That is the only thing I can think of that was trying to do replication from progress to SQL. I will look at that again tomorrow to be sure nothing is running. Good suggestion though.

I verified that Sonic was not running and that the Replication Agent Process was not running or scheduled, and I deleted the External System record under External System Maintenance just to be sure nothing was looking for it to run. I will test again tomorrow.

Hmmm.

Try getting a copy of ProTop (it's free) it should let you see what records
are locked at a given time. Could be useful to verify definitively that
locked records are the culprit.

Could you post the 4gl error your getting with the full details? Might be of
some use.

Also, if you look at your server logs you should see something in there when
you get the stop error. If you don't see anything, turn up the chatter. I
don't know for sure if EVERY stop error generates a log entry, but I've
never found one that didn't.
