Quick Search Issues in Epicor 9.05 700c

Hi guys,

this has been recently fixed in the new release of E9.05.701. Check out the release notes. So many bugs that i had seen in 700 have been fixed with several performance enhancements added. Incase you are not up for an upgrade contact epicor to give you the fix.

I am doing a new installation and an upgrade to our test servers as well as our new clients servers and will be in better position to give more details.

Regard

Anthony

I am working in a Pilot environment, setting up a company before they go live.

I have 2 issues with Quick Searches

1.) When I set-up the Quick Search (that returns the CustID) I allow it to be applied to any application where a Customer can be searched. When I click on the 'Customer' button and select the Quick Search tab (on the Customer Maintenance OR Order Entry screens) I see my Quick search. However, these are the only two screens where I can see my Quick Search. If I go to Quote/Entry or the Customer Tracker Screens and click on the Quick Search tab, there are NO Quick Searches listed.

Even more buggy: when I am in these same applications and I navigate to the Quick Search in a different way, (i.e. right click on empty Customer field --> 'Quick Searches') I find my Quick Searches there.

So they wont show up on the tab, but when I right click they are there. Is this a known Epicor bug?

2.) I created a Quick Search that grabs a partnum. The Quick Search runs just fine, but when I select a part that i want to use I get a exception error:

System.Data.NoNullAllowedException: Column 'Company' does not allow nulls.

Thank you for your help!
In summary the Quick Searches I created were made available to the user whenever they need to search customers. The user can find these Quick Searches under the Quick Search tab in the Customer Maintenance, and Order Entry screens (after clicking 'customer' to search).

These searches should be available on ANY screen that searches a customer, BUT THEY ARE ONLY AVAILABLE UNDER THE QUICK SEARCH TAB ON THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED SCREENS.

The headscratching part? when you pull up the Quick Searches by right clicking on the customer field and going to 'Quick Searches' the Quick Searches I created ARE THERE, THEY JUST WONT APPEAR IN THE QUICK SEARCH TAB LIKE THEY SHOULD.

I'm really confused.

Thanks for your help :)

Have you tried these?

In the BAQ, add the Company field to its display.
In Quick Search Entry check the boxes for "Shared' & "All Occurrences"

Good Day Chan:

It was a known problem, in 9.05.605, that some fields could not have
a Quick-Search linked to them. Bug in program. No date for fix.

Also, if you execute a Quick-Search using a right click method, then
it may run incorrectly. I have seen it happen - it is random.

Hi Chan,

I had the same issue (the error) and received this from Support:

The issue you are reporting has already been reported via SCR 98271, which has the following Description:

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When a Quick Search on Part.PartNum is run and a record selected, the following error is received:

Column 'Company' does not allow nulls

PROGRAM ID: Searches/Quick Search/BAQ

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: No error should be received and the selected record data should be loaded into the Part Entry form.

Development has set a Target Fix Service Pack at E9.05.701.

However I activated the Full Text Searching and it is much better than my part number search.

- Neil

I think there is a check box in the quick search maintenance screen that had something about checking for null...If you uncheck that checkbox does that not work? In our WI EUG meeting yesterday Jennifer demonstrated that and suggested esp part does not need the checkbox checked since you will always have a part in part entry...

Thanks for all of your replies...

This was solved: how?

The "Company is Null" error is a known error like Neil said below. Epicor provided a one off fix for that one. If you run into this, contact Epicor.

The Quick Search error described below. Epicor has confirmed that this is indeed an error and they are currently developing a fix for it. Both errors reported are known epicor issues for 700C.

hope this helps for anyone else who runs into it.

Chan.
