Quote Entry Customization

You can't expand a field length. I wouldn't want Vantage to either as it would not survive upgrades.

We don't use Qoute Entry so, please tell me: Once something is entered in the Reference field, in what other apps or reports does it (need to) appear? If few (or none), just hide the existing control and label and replace it with a 1000max length Character## field (or a ShortCharXX field of max length 50) in the same table.

If it is a field from which its data is migrated to other tables (as a quote is converted to an order, then perhaps a Job, and then an eventual Pack ID line shipment, etc.,) and you REALLY need more than 10 characters, you can still accomplish this but each app involved will have to be customized to make your custom field data flow to new homes in other tables after the BO methods are invoked that cause the original reference field data to flow.

(Pick your battles.)

OK. I have been asked to see if I can resolve a minor annoyance in the

Quote Entry Module. On the header page there is a reference box. This

box will only allow you to enter 10 characters. I was asked to see if

I could increase this character limit. Going into customization, I

don't really see anything that will allow me to do this. Am I missing

something, or is this something that only Epicor can change? I am

running version 8.03.

You can not increase the character limit on predefined Data Fields.
When you click on "Reference" field doing customization, you will see
Format check box under Data Area disabled. That means it only supports
10 characters-x(10).

What you can do is change DataField from Reference to Character# or
ShortChar#. That will allow you to enter 16000 characters with
Character# or 50 with ShortChar#. You might need to customize
appropriate apps & reports though.
