Quote Form Data Defintion

Just another problem with no common denominator.

You guys may be hitting on something...Ill look around to see if ive
done that in more than one RDD. Perhaps there is some other variable
that we haven't hit on yet that causes it to work in some instances but
not others..

I've had inconsistent results.

A couple of times , it would allow me to link a 3rd table to a 2nd
(newly-added) table. But most of the time, I get the same results as
Ross. The 3rd table returns no data.

I'm on 8.03.404.

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
I'm working on adding a couple fields to the quote form data def. I had to
add a couple tables to get to the data I want. I added QuoteCnt and CustCnt.
I built a relationship from Quotehed to QuoteCnt using the QuoteNum field
and then one from QuoteCnt to CustCnt table using Custnum and ConNum. I'm
getting data in the QuoteCnt table but the CustCnt table come up blank. I
have confirmed that there is relative data that should be there but it isn't
showing up. Can anyone give me any advice as to what is going on here?

According to the Vantage 8 data dictionary, QuoteCnt.ConNum and CustCnt.ConNum are system-generated numbers. If you relate those 2 tables via the ConNum field, you would get unexpected results.

For example, QuoteCnt.ConNum = 1 will be Jane Smith.
But CustCnt.ConNum = 1 will be John Doe.
They won't be the same person.

I'm not sure what you are trying to show on your CR quote form.

But, if you are simply trying to list all possible customer contacts on your quote form, perhaps you really want to relate the QuoteHed to CustCnt using the fields: Company, CustNum, (& possibly ShipToNum).

I just ran in to that as well.

What I concluded is that RDD will not allow a dual-chain manual
relationship. It consistently will not provide data on second table in the
manually-created relationship.

I can always get data in the first table but not the second.

A cheating (and inefficient) workaround (if the table is small) is to hang
the table off the Company table (or another if you can reduce the dataset)
and only relate the Company field (or others that assist in the reduction of
data). Of course, this gives you the 10-pound XML file that you have to
filter off in Crystal.

An option...not the best but I have used it in a pinch and it works.

Maybe I am doing something wrong. Epicor support couldn't not get the data
to return in the second table.

Is anyone else getting data in the second added table?

I must be doing something wrong then. No sure what. I followed the
instructions provided.

Maybe there are varied limitations of different RDD's.

I have recently tried it on MtlTag and QuoteForm with no success. Version
803.407a.

The work around did the trick for me and I'm not ending up with really large
xml files so it will work.

The email address on the form for the contact shows the email for the
company not the email for the contact that is displayed so I switched it to
show the email for the contact instead of the company. SO simple yet so
hard.

I must be doing something wrong then. No sure what. I followed the
instructions provided.

Maybe there are varied limitations of different RDD's.

I have recently tried it on MtlTag and QuoteForm with no success.
Version
803.407a.

I just ran in to that as well.

What I concluded is that RDD will not allow a dual-chain manual
relationship. It consistently will not provide data on second table in
the
manually-created relationship.

I can always get data in the first table but not the second.

A cheating (and inefficient) workaround (if the table is small) is to
hang
the table off the Company table (or another if you can reduce the
dataset)
and only relate the Company field (or others that assist in the
reduction of
data). Of course, this gives you the 10-pound XML file that you have to
filter off in Crystal.

An option...not the best but I have used it in a pinch and it works.

Maybe I am doing something wrong. Epicor support couldn't not get the
data
to return in the second table.

Is anyone else getting data in the second added table?

Ross

According to the Vantage 8 data dictionary, QuoteCnt.ConNum and
CustCnt.ConNum are system-generated numbers. If you relate those 2
tables
via the ConNum field, you would get unexpected results.

For example, QuoteCnt.ConNum = 1 will be Jane Smith.
But CustCnt.ConNum = 1 will be John Doe.
They won't be the same person.

I'm not sure what you are trying to show on your CR quote form.

But, if you are simply trying to list all possible customer contacts on
your
quote form, perhaps you really want to relate the QuoteHed to CustCnt
using
the fields: Company, CustNum, (& possibly ShipToNum).

You guys may be hitting on something...Ill look around to see if ive
done that in more than one RDD. Perhaps there is some other variable
that we haven't hit on yet that causes it to work in some instances but
not others..
