Raid 5

They recommend Raid 0/1 Basic mirroring. Raid 5/7 is emphatically NOT supported by any version of Vantage.

Does any version of Progress/Vantage support RAID 5? If not, what
RAID level is recommended?

We've been using Raid 5 on our servers for both Vantage 3 and 4. It wasn't recommended, but I've encountered no problems.

RAID 1 is the choice for me. Just unplug the dead drive and carry on.

Raid 5 will work and is cheap. I've been using it for 6 years now.

But if performance is an issue I'd strongly recommend that you mirror your
drives. One set for the operating system and the Vantage/progress source
code directories and a second pair for your Database. My next server setup
will be mirrored. It's much faster.

In either case make sure you have "Write" cache turned off on you RAID
controller and NEVER EVER use the built in NT logic for virtual RAID
devices.

RAID 0/1 was recommended by Epicor. I have it on my
new server for 4.0 but (shhhhhh!!!) we are still on 3.
My test database is running great.
