Our Kinetic database is currently around 315GB. We run the Ola Hallengren Index and Statistics Maintenance script daily to maintain performance. However, we’ve recently noticed that index fragmentation reaches 88% or higher within a single business day after the maintenance job completes.
Upon investigation, it appears that running DMTs (Data Management Tools) — which we do almost daily — is causing significant fragmentation in the tables they touch. Our DMT loads are relatively small (typically between 30–100 sales orders or users), so we’re surprised by the extent of the impact.
Has anyone else experienced index fragmentation issues related to DMT activity?
Any insights or best practices to mitigate this would be appreciated.
