RB Report needed for DocMgmt link verification

Yes the Drawings table is like the Memos table in which the "KEY#" fields are character. The QuoteDtl.QuoteNum is an integer and you can not create links in RB between tables if the field types are not the same. The only way to do this is to use Provision and create simple programs that can do the conversion of integers to characters (or vise-versa) and then query the tables you want to extract the data. I've done a lot of stuff like this to check status of drawing links to make sure they exist both in vantage and at the location vantage says it is. The data gets dumped to a text file, then passed to a visual basic app that will sort through all the data, report the discrepancies and e-mail the results to the people responsible for maintaining the data.

I'm not famliar with the Drawings table but it sounds a lot like Memos. I have on several occasions had to resort to linking everything (company only) and weeding it out in filters. Messy and very slow but eventually it works.

Subject: [Vantage] RB Report needed for DocMgmt link verification

We are on version 5.00.329. We recently added the Document
Management module. We have been scanning Cadkey files and
Turret/2nd operation sheets to PDF file. We link either the PDF
file or the SLDDRW (Solidworks) file in the QuoteDtl and in the
PartRev as needed. Most of the PDF filenames end with a '-rev'. We
do it this way due to revision issues.

To verify what files have been linked to which area, the only
resource I have been able to find is to use the table
called 'Drawings'. The information I print out
is: 'RelatedToFile'=PartRev or QuoteDtl; 'Key1'=Part# for the
PartRev or Quote# for the QuoteDtl; 'Key2'=Revision for the PartRev
or QuoteLine for the QuoteDtl; 'Key3' and 'Key4' don't seem to offer
any information; 'FileName'=Drive:\folder\filename.ext. I sorted it
by FileName so that I could see if the files has been linked to both
the PartRev and QuoteDtl.

This is good information for the PartRev, however I really need to
see the Part Number and Revision from the QuoteDtl. I tried linking
the Drawings table to the QuoteDtl, except Drawings does not contain
the QuoteNum/Line nor the PartNum. I tried creating a formula
turning Drawings-Key1 into a value and linking it to the QuoteDtl-
QuoteNum. I also tried creating a formula to turn the QuoteDtl-
QuoteNum into a char to link to Drawings-Key1.

I tried everything that I know to try. It sure seems to me that a
link should be able to be made, I've seen similar unmatched links
work. It could be that I am overlooking something.

All help is much appreciated.

Thank you,
Ann Rohyans
