RB - Vertical Lines Across Bands

OK, solved it. For future reference.......

1. The vertical lines were extending just a touch too high and were getting
into the page header band above the footer band I am reporting at (record
band suppressed and deleted). By carefully noting the gray bar at the left
side when dragging the line end point handle I noticed three distinct
states. Either it was just above the band seperation line, right on the
line or just below. By adjusting all the vertical line end points so that
the gray bar was below the line (thus the vertical line is entirely in just
that band) it now prints them for every band occurance and not just the
first one. It takes a very steady hand to make the line long enough yet not
too long.

2. Dummy me. I had missed the PartNum field in my master table (JobOper)
and was selecting for part number in a linked table (JobHead). Report was
taking 30 minutes. Now takes about 7 seconds. As they say; "the KEY to
making it faster....."

I have a report that needs to simulate very closely a manually produced
report on which figures are entered in grid. To make this look right I need
vertical as well as horizontal lines. But the vertical lines are printing
only for the first occurance of the primary report band. All the others
below it have no vertical lines seperating the fields. I suppose I could
try a whole bunch of adjacent boxes on that band line but if vertical lines
will work I think it would look better.

I haven't spent a lot of time at this because the report takes a very long
time to run trial & error is taking forever. For some reason it re-gathers
all the data when only formatting changes have been made. So I was hoping
someone here would know some tricks for dealing with vertical lines in RB.

Thanks,

Try putting the horizontal line on a record using the band line conditional
printing to control it printing just once with a counter or something.

Use a filter on the report so speed it up so it only takes seconds to
generate for viewing your horizontal and vertical line changes.
