Hi everyone,
IÂ’d appreciate it if I could talk to someone who is using this module. I
think we should have looked before we leaped into it. IÂ’m not sure if it is
really something that we want to use and need a few pros and cons.

Thanks,
Nelson

Nelson,

We installed the module but judging by the overwhelming apathy it has
generated, it isn't what the user community thought they were going
to get. There is no link to Outlook, so you can't associate mailbox
messages to a contact witout a cut-and-paste to CRM Calls. The
interface is primitive compared to the snazzy products on the market.
It just appears that it was an afterthought bolt-on that Epicor added
in order to say they had a CRM module. Definitely less than one star.

Last week a saw a demo of 8.0400 with links with Outlook, after seeing
this demo
I had to review my opinion about CRM, it realy looks good now!!

just my two cents..........

Nelson, We purchased the CRM module for one of our production databases and we've been sorely disappointed as well. While we weren't expecting salesforce.com like features, the CRM module falls way short of many expectations that we had to help us manage the project contacts/facilitators/all VARs included in a sale. Vantage 8.00_8.11 does not handle this very well but Epicor promises to improve and incorporate many features in Epicor 9.
We do quotes but do not use the CRM module for its actual sales team tools since it falls short. We are also leaning away from quotes since it is so "clunky" and time consuming. So one of our tech support guys came up with an excel macro tool to help do custom quick quotes and we've resorted to double-entry in the sales order if the quote converts to a sale. I wish I could say anything positive about this module but the sales presentation "promised" more than what CRM can deliver.
Thanks
RSN

If you are doing your quotes in excel, theoretically, your IT people should be able to set it up to save an appropriately formed XML file.

That XML file should then (again - theoretically) be able to be read by vantage to either bring all of your quotes into vantage OR bring accepted quotes into vantage as EDI-like sales orders (avoiding the need for error prone double entry).

...Might at least be worth running the idea by your IT people.
