Re-hires in Vantage employee setup - 8.03

We also use a user-defined field for rehire date. We have dashboards that help HR make changes to PTO rates are appropriate times and dashboard/report that are exported to a 401k ACH file. We choose the appropriate date to be checked for each of these. We're running Epicor 9.05.701, but are still using the process we set up in Vantage.

How does everyone handle this scenario?  We have an employee who worked for the company a few years, left the company a couple of years ago but now is coming back.  In his re-hire agreement, we are giving him his original time served back so he will qualify for 401K, insurance, etc.  However, he will NOT get credit for the two years he was gone.  How can I enter this into Vantage without creating a new duplicate employee from scratch?   I can see no way that Vantage can handle this..In other words, “technically” he has “two” hire dates, the original one AND when he came back.  Any ideas???

We are in this scenario a lot… We utilize the user defined fields to track the dates and a custom comments field for the full details (orig DOH, orig DOT, New DOH, time credits = adj DOH)
