So I am new to this epicor solar…my company has never used a real segmented COA…they used the account descriptions to bascially do nothing, they ran like this for over 20 years, prior finance people had no. clue…they have a BS and IS in the system which is unusable and not GAAP …the company is now 200M and we cannot grow without some very fundamental changes to the fiance/GL side. we are running the latest version…can we make wholesale changes to the COA and will this erp support a multi segmented account structure…
Up to 20 segments of up to 200 characters. IIRC.
Not to mention the capability of dynamic segments.
Suggest investing some time in reading the documentation, the Epicor Learning center, engaging al an experienced and practiced Financial consultant and planning things thoroughly before embarking on the change. Get things right and your GL capture and reporting will be top notch. This is not an overnight fix.

We are using Eclipse/Solar and are evaluating whether it can support a formal segmented financial structure including natural account, business unit, commercial profit center, cost center, and potentially fulfillment location.
Can you point me to the Eclipse/Solar documentation or menu path for creating the COA segments and dynamic segments? Our current environment appears to rely primarily on G/L account descriptions, branches, sales sources, product types, and subledgers.

That being said you should be able to get access to documentation on it fro Epicweb. Not sure about the Epicor Learning Center. Failing that it might be worth talking to support or your CAM if you have not already.
Can you clarify what version/product are you running… I may be confused I thought you were running Epcor Eclipse for some reason
