Assuming the file being referred to is regocx.log in the work folder I actually have this set to error out on purpose on some clients (in 6.1) by denying access to all but Administrator. Some clients start Vantage extremely slow, taking 3-4 minutes due to a bunch of file checking that gets logged in that file. If the log file can't be written to it skips the checking and Vantage starts immediately. Downside is the user has to click OK on the message box but it is well worth it to them for the speed. I never got to the bottom of why the checking process takes so long on some clients other than it was related to the network switch they were on.
