Reopen ALL in Order Entry

Close a whole order:

  1. Actions > close order

Open a whole order

  1. Actions > Reopen Order
  2. Actions > Reopen Line (1)
  3. Actions > Reopen Line (2) …etc.
  4. Actions > Reopen Release (1-1)
  5. Actions > Reopen Release (2-1) …etc.

Can I get an option to just reopen everything?

Maybe one prompt, to ask if you want to open ALL, or just just lines & release that were never completely fulfilled.

edit…

And you kindly omitted the fact that you get a modal pop-up message confirming the Order, Line, or Release has been opened. Which you have to clear each time. So it’s really:

  1. Actions > Reopen Order
  2. Confirm dialog that Order was re-opened
  3. Actions > Reopen Line (1)
  4. Confirm dialog that Line 1 was re-opened
  5. Actions > Reopen Line (2) …etc.
  6. Confirm dialog that Line 2 was re-opened
  7. Actions > Reopen Release (1-1)
  8. Confirm dialog that Release 1 was re-opened
  9. Actions > Reopen Release (2-1) …etc.
  10. Confirm dialog that Release 1 was re-opened

Yeah that’s a very good point.

And I didn’t even add that you have to manually select the next line or release between each step.

Yep. You’re making the case better than I am. It is agony. And explaining to someone, “Now reopen the line. Now reopen the release.” Some people (users) already don’t love Epicor. This really gets on their nerves.

The DMT template has a field that allows bypassing that confirmation window. I wonder if a BPM could somehow do that.

Or how about if you want to open just one release, You’re prompted with “This requires Re-Opening the Order and the Line too. Continue?” (only when those need re-opening.)

Right I thought about making a BPM for this.

But time spent vs. payoff = not worth it, to me, with the workload I have. Like you say, if it’s ever bad enough, fire up the DMT.

I guess it’s just the annoyance of having to explain to people how tedious it is to reopen everything. It takes my time, plus theirs.

I find it really annoying. But it turns out that I’m the one mostly affected by it. Most Order entry people never have to re-open a line. But I have several “test” orders in our Production system. I close them out when I’m done whatever test I’m doing. But the next time I need to test something in the Production system, I’d either need to make a whole new test order, or go back to one of the closed test orders, and do the: re-open, confirm, rinse-and-repeat.

I should probably make a DMT file for my test order, and then just use that. But even that is a pain.

  1. Open the Excel file
  2. Make edits
  3. Save excel file
  4. Launch DMT
  5. Select the BO (Orders#Combined)
  6. Load the excel file
  7. Click Process
