What Todd said. We do both repetitive and custom work. MRP takes care of
the repetitive. We also use backflushing, standard lot sizes, min/max
levels and a sales forecast for the repetitive items.

John,
This is where Vantage MRP helps us a lot, particularly if you have a
standard manufacturing lot size. MRP automatically generates the number of
jobs needed in predetermined lot sizes. This eliminates a lot of manual
entry. We use backflushing for the material on these jobs as well.

We are on Vantage 4.00 and are wondering how other companies handle
repetitive jobs. We have workcells that run only one part number through it
everyday for all 3 shifts. Currently we release jobs with quantities based
on the customer's delivery requirements. Is there another/easier way to
handle repetitive jobs? Should the material be backflushed?
We also manufacture job shop orders in other parts of the plant (5 pc orders
to 500 pc orders). Would backflushing the material for job shop orders be
recommended? We usually have over 500 job shop orders on the floor at one
time.
