Report Builder classes

Ralph,
You might call Ron Rizutto (contact info below) and try to convince him to
add an eLearning class for Report Builder. Epicor is starting to do
eLearning classes over the internet. I attended a class on Cycle Counting
this morning and it was a good deal. The cost was $195 for a three hour
class (can't beat that, especially when there's no travel expenses or
serious time away from the plant!). You connect to a web-site and then call
on a speaker-phone to hear the audio (its a toll-free number). They can
show PowerPoint slides or connect to their desktop to show you how its done
with the software. You can ask questions as you go and Ron is very helpful
in explaining everything!

I highly recommend this form of class to anyone. There are a few quirks
they have to work out to make everything go smoothly, but nothing serious.
I'm not always the easiest guy to impress (I'm old, grouchy and cynical),
but this form of training has a LOT of potential. Currently, there isn't a
scheduled class for Report Builder, but there IS one for Crystal Reports on
November 9. Its only 1.5 hours in length so there won't be a lot of detail,
but it should be a good opportunity to get a good idea of what can be done.

I am researching this for a coworker who is looking at some training
on Report Builder. What have people experienced with either the
Report Builder basic or advanced Report Builder classes. The target
audience is a cost accountant and has some experience with report
writing but lacks the fundamentals on Report Builder.

I am seeking general feedback on whether the class is worth the time
away from the office and the financial consideration.

Many thanks,
Ralph

I attended the Report Builder class when we first started with Vantage, 2
years ago. I was very pleased with the class and the instructor. I had
report writing skills in other programs, but this class gave me the
opportunity to spend dedicated time on Report Builder. And, the reports you
write you can use when you get back to work, so it's value-added time. I
would recommend it.
Definitely worth it (possibly the most useful class offered). It would be
hard for a cost accountant to effectively do his/her job without it. Gives
them the ability to effectively accumulate information needed for analysis.
I went 5 years ago and have sent several others since then. All have
found it very useful. Make sure he has a basic understanding of Vantage
before he goes and make sure he starts using it on live data as soon as he
is trained. There are a lot of details that are forgotten in the first
month if you don't use it. Good luck.

Definitely worth it. Mark Pladson was my instructor and he was great.
Makes you feel a lot more at ease with RB. The only thing I hate about it
is that I have to write reports for everyone and everything. Heck, my old
boss, who is at a totally different company, still asks me for reports.
