Report Builder credit memo question

Could you do an outer join to the ProdGrup table?
I think this way, if there is no product group, you
should get an unknow value in that field, as well as
show all invoices.

I'd like to throw out an invoicing report question for some
enlightenment... Here is our situation:

I have a report that summarizes dollars invoiced by product group by
month. The joins are pretty simple:

Customer to InvcHead
InvcHead to InvcDtl
InvcDtl to ProdGrup

My problem is this: Although there are credit memos in the InvcHead
table (as evidenced by InvcHead.CreditMemo and InvcHead.InvoiceSuffix
fields), none of them are being calculated as part of the product group
totals by month.
Some digging turned up that rather than issuing the credit memos to
a sales order, my folks are issuing miscellaneous credit memos to the
customers, to avoid doing sales-order-line-by-line credits (which don't
really work for us). Thus, since there isn't a product group, the credit
memos are being ignored. Any way around this problem?

We are on 4.0.

They can still reference a product group even if they don't use a sales
order when issuing a credit memo. Make it a mandatory field for them to fill
out. You might want to create a edit list that shows what product group the
lines are for in report builder as a check besides the very weak canned
Invoice edit list. We have a report in report builder that looks at all
invoices that are not posted to see what the ship to state is and what
product group things are coded for. This is compared to the canned edit list
to make sure prep and freight misc. charges will hit the proper group as
well as that tax codes are being used.
