Report Builder Performance Tips and Crystal Reports

My "gut" feeling is that they would, except for RB specific commands like some of the filter options (in-range, begins, etc...) which may be operated on differently than the built in functions in Crystal (the server versus PC evaluation issue). But all the linking (using keys) and some of the testing for filters (start with key based) I would think would translate directly to the ODBC SQL code. If the ODBC specific to Progress is at least as smart about DB access as RB was generating then it should find and use key structures for more effecient reading from the DB. From what I've seen 90% of the tips relate to two things....using a key path for gathering record complexes and then reducing the size of the record complex directly at the read level so as to avoid "after read" filter testing as much as possible. All of this should be basic DB and SQL performance strategy in any environment.

My 2 cents on it anyway. There may be many Crystal tweaks I am not aware of since I am just ramping up "Crystal from scratch" as opposed to modifying the canned forms.

Todd,
You had posted some great tips on how to improve the performance of Report Builder reports. Do you know if the same principles apply for Crystal Reports also?

Thanks,

Jasper
