Report Security in 8.0

James,

I agree, it doesn't seem like the best design decision to have it work that
way and it does take some work to secure with the OS. It also makes more
work for the server admin as they have to remember to secure the new folders
every time they setup a new user. I don't have a doc number and I don't
know if they've even updated it for v8 yet, but here's a link to the
document I was referencing on EPICweb.

00.aspx

If anyone has a script that automates setting the permissions please share
it with the group.

Good luck,

Thanks Dan.

I'll have to ask support for this doc. By chance, do you know a doc number?

Also, I know I can secure them using the OS, but Crystal (or Vantage) is
creating the user subfolders dynamically, and they are inheriting the
permissions of the parent Report folder. I suppose it is posssible to
create the folders ahead of time, and lock them down.
Seems like a lot of work to do it this way, though.

Doe anyone know if Epicor plans to implement any type of security for
reports in version 8.0? Since everyone has access to the server share
where the reports/data are saved, anyone can browse any report that has
been run and not yet removed.

Thanks,
James
James,

You should be able to secure the reports folders via your servers operating
system. I believe Epicor support has a document to help with this.

Hope that helps,
