Only the 1,000 that RB can handle. I have it set for Character Format X(1000) and Width 80 and Alignment is WordWrap so that it prints a nice looking block of text and adds new lines automatically as needed. As for how many can be entered....I am not sure but the Data Dictionary lists X(1000) as the field size for Memo.Text so that outght to be it.

particular for out Customer table where we have a Category called "Trip"
where sales people enter notes after visiting a customer. The report prints
out all previous Trip notes so that they can be briefed prior to their next
trip. Only trouble with memos and categories is the filtering process is
slower than direct linking.
The particular filder looks like: MemoCat.CategoryID = 'trip'
I am linking Memo to MemoCat but I don't recall exactly why I filtered on
MemoCat.CategoryID and not Memo.CategoryID which should have been faster.
Perhaps written back before I knew better.
