Reporting Production Starting Setup Activity

We are having an issue in MES where labor hours are not being captured after ending a Setup activity.

Process we follow:

  1. Start Setup Activity in MES
  2. Enter Job Number, Assembly, and Operation
  3. Perform the setup work
  4. End the activity when setup is complete

After ending the setup activity, the labor hours do not populate / are not captured on the operation. We have checked the production standards, setup hours on the operation, and resource configuration, but have not been able to resolve it.

We are also entering production completed quantities (on MRP-planned jobs). The issue appears specific to setup activities — production run labor seems to work normally in most cases.

What we’ve checked so far:

  • Standards and setup hours on the operation
  • Resource and Resource Group configuration
  • Labor appears to start (activity shows in Started Activities), but after End Activity the hours field stays at zero

Questions:

  • Has anyone seen labor hours fail to post specifically after ending a Setup activity in MES?

We are on Epicor ERP 10.2.

Any ideas or things we should check would be greatly appreciated. Happy to provide screenshots of the operation configuration, Job Tracker, or BAQ results if needed.

Could it possibly have to do with the Expense code being Direct Labor? At our company, Direct Labor produces something to stock/job/order, Indirect is for everything else. We have our Setup as Indirect, and Production as Direct.
