Requiring supervisor approval but for certain indirect code only

I am trying to make it so labors entered in the Time Entry screen, for some specific Indirect Codes, require a supervisor approval.

In the Site Configuration screen, there is an option to require all indirect codes to be approved.
But I only want that for a specific list.

I have tried setting the LaborDtl.ApprovalRequired field to true in a pre-processing method directive, but it keeps auto submiting. I also tried in post-processing and in Data directive, but it won’t work either.

Anybody have another idea?

interesting request. I’m going to assume you want the supervisor to approve it, and not just prevent it’s use on the shop floor without an ‘override’ like they do at the Walmart registers for alcohol and stuff.

I think the issue is that the approvals process happens outside the labor.update transaction and thus a method directive doesn’t work. For starters, I’d double check to see if the labor data set produced by time entry has a flag that determines Automatic or Employee approval (the setting from Site Config). If you can see that, then you can flip that based on the indirect code.

Other than that, can your Post directive trigger a recall on the time entry? If it’s been automatically approved but hasn’t been posted as part of Cos/Wip posting, then you should be able to recall it and leave it open for manual supervisor approval. Even go so far as to send an email to the supervisor via EmpBasic.SupervisorID ↔ Userfile.Email so that person knows they have to go approve/reject it.
