Epicor will sell you the tools (basically canned data mappings) to
convert to v8 MoMs.
You're dreaming about trying to convert jobs though... WAY too many
problematic potential tables involved.
Prepare yourself for recreating the jobs & 'catching them up' to any WIP
status.
You'll be importing your wharehosue bin o/h's so if you've already
issued material to a WIP job, DON'T 're'issue it. Simply delete the job
mtl detail or mark it as issued complete.
No real harm 'double entering' labor (other than it is time consuming).
You're job costs will be junk for months (as there is no way you'll
import everything properly nor will people transact accurately on a new
interface for a while) so don't get crazy about it.

We are moving from Vantage 5.2 to 8.03.400 and we currently have
operations and workcenters. The process is pretty generic for what we
use now we will have to be more detailed in our relationship between
operations and resource groups for version 8.03. We need to "revamp" the
master files and now need the methods masters and current, existing jobs
to also reflect this new change of structure of our operations and
resource groups/resources. There is the mass replace option for the
change of the operation and resource group records but this is one new
record at a time as well as a bit restrictive if they decide to use the
resource level. We need to make sure the existing jobs are also covered
as we will continue to run in the software and will need to show the new
structure for proper scheduling and job completion processes. We used a
program that changed our operation and resource group masters, but we
will need an additional program that will change the remainder of the
affected files (methods and existing jobs). Basically we need all BOM's,
MOM's and open jobs to reflect our change in the new operations. We
created a one to one relationship for resource groups and operations.
Example:
Resource Group Operation
6100 6100
We currently have it set up like this:
Work Center Operation
6100 COMP
Did anyone else out there need this done when they made the jump to
version 8.0 or 8.03? If so did you write a fix yourself or have custom
programming complete this for you? I currently have custom programming
look at this, but they have not given us a quote back on what it will
cost. I'm no expert when it comes to writing programs, but it sounds
like something that would not be that difficult. Any assistance or
comments greatly appreciated.
